Training Your Dog

Struggling with your dog's behavior? Our dog obedience training classes tackle issues like ignoring commands, leash pulling, and behavioral issues. Professional training helps eliminate bad habits and strengthens your bond, making walks and visits stress-free. Our methods build confidence and responsiveness in any setting. We offer both puppy and adult obedience courses to instill and reinforce essential skills at any stage of life.

Our training develops over 3 stages to get your dog to off leash freedom:

  • The first stage of our training focuses on developing the dog to behave well when on leash. This class focuses on:

    ·         Loose Leash Walking

    ·         Place

    ·         Marker Training

    ·         Sit/Down

    ·         Heel on Leash

    ·         Recall on Leash

  • The second stage of training focuses on the next steps to having a dog that listens when off leash. This is the first introduction to the E-Collar. We will show you exactly how to use a E-Collar correctly.

  • The last stage of training is focused on off leash training with the E-Collar and working in public places with your dog.

With this class many of the training sessions will be out at local businesses that allow dogs or at local parks.

  • Not everyone is looking to work through the off-leash portion of our training and that’s OK!

After Beginner Obedience, if you are looking to keep working with your dog on leash and continue to advance your skills, we recommend that you continue training to complete your Canine Good Citizen. This is a 10-skill test from AKC that shows your dog has good manners. This class will prepare you and your dog for that test. The actual test will be on the last night of class.

Client Reviews

“I’ve know Erin Butler more than 20 years. My dog Mickey and I have been training with Erin for a couple of years, however I have observed her going back to the 4-H days of competing in the dog project.

Both Mickey and I have learned so much in obedience and agility (which is a lot of fun too), he is doing things I never thought he was capable of. I am so impressed with Erin’s training techniques, and her extensive knowledge of the many dog breeds. She knows the dogs capabilities and helps us reach our goals and more.”

“We can’t recommend Erin enough. Erin has been working with our lab for the past 4 years and as of recently our new puppy in the puppy class. Erin is knowledgeable, patient, and passionate. She takes the time to know the dog and the handler. She is able to problem solve what works best for the dog and owner. We are excited to continue to train with Erin and see how our dogs progress. They have learned so much as we have too. Five stars to Erin!
